GMC “Gunner Mark Tejchman

Today we lost a shipmate

A friend throughout the years

He sailed the open oceans

He sailed the upon the seas

But when he was the happiest

Was when he sailed home to thee

His life was filled with happiness

With some disappointments thrown in

But never did he give up the fight

For that was never him.

He has set sail for the final voyage,

A deployment for the ages

One he didn't want to take

But knew he would have to take it.

As the sun set upon the seas,

The winds of change came blowing,

He knew the time had come

For that final last deployment

A lone bird gliding circles,

Not the usual gulls or birds,

But a lone eagle mighty and great.

To guide the way to the pearly gates

His shipmates waited patiently

To throw the lines and set her sail

For this shipmates final voyage

Was about to set sail.

Angels waited at the dock,

Waiting at the final berth,

To guide him

Finally, home.

A great Man once said that

He knew each time a sparrow falls.

So now Dear Lord hear our cries

and feel our pain for this time... it was an Eagle.

Today I was told my Shipmate, my Friend, Mark finally lost the war,

Passing away yesterday.

Fair Winds and Following Seas My good friend.

You fought the good fight

But this time you couldn't win.

Peace be with you and Andi and the kids.

Sleep well my friend.

For I know you will be watching over us all….

was searching around for old shipmates and came across your blog on Mark Tejchman. i wasn't convinced that it could possibly have been "space mountain" from cv-67 that you were commenting about.

so very sad to conclude it was my old ship mate that had passed. i hadn't seen mark & andi since around '91 or '92 when they were passing through my home town on the way to ohio.

i sincerely wish we'd have stayed in touch, and so sad to hear of his passing. i had a lot of great times with mark between '85 - '89. God Bless him, Andi, and the kids.
